Sun Valley Day Program (SVDP): Offering on and off-site day habilitation, personal assistance, functional, cognitive and physical development, self-determination, advocacy and community inclusion.

This program helps detect breast & cervical cancers in their earliest stages when they are easiest to treat. Free mammograms & pap tests will be provided to women who meet income and age requirements. Other services for women are offered at this site.

Weatherization auditor will perform an on-site home energy audit to identify air leaking areas, insufficient insulation levels, inspect and test heating systems for both safe and efficient operation. Services may include insulation installation, applying weather stripping and caulking to seal off air leaks. May make necessary furnace repairs to existing heating systems, add fresh air ventilation, and in some cases replace inefficient or hazardous heating systems (in owner occupied homes only).

Family-centered Services are provided to families and children in their own homes when a child abuse or neglect investigation/family assessment response determination is preponderance of evidence, unsubstantiated-preventive services indicated, or services needed. These services are also provided to families who voluntarily seek help. Family-centered Services include a range of treatment and support services and are provided, as appropriate to the case treatment plan.

Provides a food pantry

Provides free legal representation to low income clients in a number of civil legal problems; criminal defense representation is not provided; they handle cases involving public benefits, housing, unemployment compensation, family, consumer, education, employment, health and other matters.

Provides group counseling for psychological issues such as stress, anxiety, and more.

Vector Control: Works to decrease potential disease vectors (spread of diseases), including mosquitoes and rats, both of which spread disease.

Health screenings are provided for the following: Cardiovascular, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV, Diabetes, Lead, and tuberculosis. Other screenings available upon request.

Provides a 24-hour hotline for individuals facing a mental health or substance abuse crisis.

Provides a thrift shop with low-cost household items and clothing; some items may be free, based on need.

When a heat alert is issued the senior center will open its doors to the public as a cooling center.

• Intensive Family Intervention Services: Provides in-home services to children for 45 days to help them successfully reintegrate into their families, homes and schools after a period of 24-hour inpatient care. Services include intensive in-home parent support and education, care and service coordination, 24 hour crisis intervention and intensive home support.

• Intensive In-Home Services: A short-term, home-based, crisis intervention service offering families in crisis an alternative for remaining together safely, and averting out-of-home placement of children whenever possible. The program combines skill-based intervention with maximum flexibility so that services are available to families according to their unique needs.

Helps young adults who are in high school and have disabilities find summer employment opportunities. Vocational Rehabilitation and Special Education share responsibility in preparing youth with disabilities for transition from high school to post-high school employment, education, specialized training and independence. Provides assessment of individual to determine extent of disability and evaluates to determine types of work best suited to the individual.

Warming center available during normal business hours.

Crisis intervention counseling provided.

Offers gynecological exams, pregnancy tests, PAP smears, breast exams, emergency and low-cost contraceptives, STD screening and treatment, and the HPV vaccine. Specially-trained nurse practitioners and physicians provide health exams in a pleasant and confidential atmosphere.

Provides comprehensive assessment, individual, family and co-dependent counseling, group counseling, group education, case management and community support and co-occurring mental health services if indicated by assessment.

Accepts donations of children's clothing.

Individuals or families needing to place their child(ren) into foster care should contact the office to discuss options. Also, receives and reviews applications for families who would like to adopt or foster a child(ren).
