Each participating household receives an allotment of food benefits based on the USDA's Thrifty Food Plan. This allotment is adjusted annually according to the U. S. Department of Labor's analysis of the cost of food. Missouri Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) is the method by which households receive and use food stamp benefits. Households may use their Missouri EBT card in any grocery store or retail location anywhere in the United States that has been authorized by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service and displays the Quest sign. The benefits may be used to purchase any food or food products prepared for human consumption except alcoholic beverages and tobacco, hot foods, or foods prepared for immediate consumption. Benefits may also be used to buy seeds and plants for use in gardens to produce food for the personal consumption of the household. Under certain conditions, members of the eligible households who are 60 years of age or older may use the benefits to pay for home delivered meals and other meals prepared for elderly persons.

Provides outpatient therapy, psychiatry, Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation (CPR) for Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) youth and adults.

Provides in-home respite to give primary caregivers of older adults some time away from in-home caring demands.

Provides practical, research-based information and programs to meet the educational needs of local citizens. Local staff develop and deliver programs based on needs identified by the local citizens and programs are provided by the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Provides a wide range of informational and educational programs in consumerism, agriculture, human development, business, youth, etc.

Offers recreational and educational activities to improve coordination to help individuals with autism or a developmental disability maintain functional and social skills.

Provides intake, assessment and supervision of adult probation clients.

Accepts gently used or new clothing items.

Services are offered for children and parents involved in the adoption process. These include the evaluation of the child's needs prior to placement, and arrangements for care of the child prior to the child's adoptive placement and to the approval of the adoptive family. Also, special activities are provided to help adoptive parents and children adjust to the new family situation.

Health screenings are provided for the following: Cardiovascular, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV, Diabetes, Lead, and tuberculosis. Other screenings available upon request.

Project READ Tutoring: Matches volunteer tutors with readers one-on-one who want to improve their reading skills, math or English language skills.

Provides storytimes and summer reading programs for children.

Provides case management to individuals and families including meetings, setting goals with follow-up progression, employment and/or education opportunities.

Vocational Rehabilitation and Special Education share responsibility in preparing youth with disabilities for transition from high school to post-high school employment, education, specialized training and independence.

Provides space during extreme heat emergencies.

Responsible for the coordination of emergency management activities including planning, preparedness, response and recovery. Serve as the central point of contact for reporting emergency/disaster incidents in Maries County.

Provides outpatient care including diagnostic imaging, lab, therapy, outpatient surgery, emergency services, specialty clinic and physician clinics.

Several extended day care programs are available where children benefit from agency preschool services, enrichment program and/or Jr. Kindergarten.

Consumer Directed Services (CDS): Individuals perform routine tasks of daily living, include getting dressed and undressed, grooming, bathing, bowel and bladder care, meal preparation, eating, clean-up, and household duties. In-Home Services (I-HS): Respite care and assistance with activities of daily living

Responsible for the control and extinction of fires in urban or wilderness areas.

When a heat emergency is declared, Senior Center is open to the public (all ages) as a Cooling site. Snacks and cold drinks are available as are restroom facilities.

Provides affordable spay/neuter services to animal shelters, rescues, feral cat caregivers, and owners who could not otherwise afford to have their animals spayed or neutered.
