WIOA and SkillUP are offered in Cass County. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. The SkillUP program provides SNAP participants opportunities to gain skills, training, or experience that will improve their ability to attain employment and decrease their dependency on public assistance programs. The intention of the SkillUP program is rapid attachment to work that leads to self-sufficiency for individuals and families. The program offers job search training, education, and supportive services to participants. The SkillUP program provides short-term training in the quickest possible time in order to lead to employment. Training should be completed within one year or less, must align with the participant’s employment plan, and lead to employment and self-sufficiency.

Sheltered Workshop employing adults with disabilities residing in Butler County, MO (must be a resident). The employees work 30 hours per week, and transportation is provided to and from the center.

Provides current, thorough and confidential information for seniors on a wide range of topics, such as housing options, care coordination, benefits, legal services and health care.

Home Visitation Program: Nurses monitor mother and child and conduct for co-occurring risk factors including maternal depression, stress, domestic violence, prepares a plan of action with the infants caregivers, provides educational topics and tools to address issues, improve parenting skills, help parents access external resources as needed, including diapers, formula and safety equipment to promote the health and safety of the mother and child.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families provides benefits to families with needy children (due to death, desertion, mental or physical problems, or unemployment).

Assists individuals with food stamps/SNAP appeals and/or complaints.

Home weatherization service for income-eligible homeowners and renters. Weatherization crews insulate attics, walls, and floors and perform infiltration measures to homes to make them more energy-efficient and to lower utility bills for the client. Gas and water heating systems are tested for health and safety problems and are repaired or replaced if a problem is detected. Also provides long-term, permanent home repairs and improvements.

Offers Medicare Information/Counseling: MO HealthNet provides medical services to individuals who meet eligibility requirements. The focus is to promote good health, to prevent illness and premature death, to correct or limit disability, to treat illness, and to provide rehabilitation to individuals with disabilities.

Provides confidential, one-on-one evaluations, matching seniors with eligible benefits, such as Medicaid, SSI, food stamps, Qualified Medicare Beneficiary, and Veterans benefits; assistance is also given with making application for these benefits.

Accepts donations of baby clothing and diapers.

The CHAMPS (Communities Helping Adolescents Mature Positively & Successfully) Mentoring Program is for at-risk, school-age youth (grades K-12), in Perry County. This program allows adult volunteers, who have successfully completed a background check and mentor training, to offer support and guidance to at-risk youth on a weekly basis. During this time the volunteers are encouraged to help build the youth�s self-esteem, and help them make educated decisions about their future while offering healthy, fun interaction between the youth and mentor.

Serves as the point of entry for clients eligible for services funded through the Missouri Department of Mental Health. Offers early intervention services, psychiatric outpatient services through Comprehensive Children's Services and Adult Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services based on an individual's treatment plan.

Northside Computer Center: Offers tutoring program to help children improve language and math skills. Children are usually members of after-school program.

Serves as a warming center during extreme cold tempteratures.

Utility Assistance: Provides assistance to low-income individuals for water bill assistance. Partial payments are made to avoid utility cut-offs.

Meet with youth to get an understanding of their current health status in terms of drug and alcohol use/abuse, help youth get the immediate assistance if necessary, and introduces youth to programs to prevent drug/alcohol use in the future.

Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing: Extensive case management services for homeless individuals and/or individuals in threat of being homeless. Services may include rent, gas, electric payment assistance, security deposit, first months rent, placement in housing, overnight stay at hotels, etc.

The Warrensburg Community Center provides cooling site during extreme heat conditions; the Center shares a facility with the Warrensburg Senior Center where coffee, water, and doughnuts are provided.

Provides consulting and placement into employment for individuals and consulting and services to businesses for recruitment, screening, retention, and training of employees.
