The Knox County Historical Society, Inc., a private not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to the preservation of Knox County’s history. Organized March 22, 1966, the Society exists to help people connect to the past by collecting, preserving, and sharing history. Photographs explore the heritage and pioneering spirit of Knox County and its impact on the lives of the people it represents. History is important because it connects us to specific times, places, and events that were significant milestones in our collective past. Society meetings are open, and the public is invited to attend. There are no membership fees.

Sidney's Birthday Box: Partners with two local children's hospitals to work closely with the dialysis staff and physicians to plan birthday surprises for children who are receiving dialysis. A bag of goodies for the children includes resources for their families and care takers, such as kidney health brochures and peer support or help line information. Kidney Social Summit: Offers an annual educational symposium for kidney patients, their care takers, and the general community who are looking to increase their knowledge of kidney health. Provides both support and valuable tools for participants take to manage their disease, advocate for themselves, and incorporate healthy habits into their daily life. Language Flyers Initiative: Breaks down linguistic barriers to educate diverse community members on kidney health. National organizational content is translated into Arabic, Bosnian, English, Spanish, Swahili, and Vietnamese for enhanced awareness regarding kidney disease.

To alleviate temporary emergency situations, provides non-narcotic prescription drug payment assistance; prescriptions are filled by the Medicine Shoppe.

Provides referrals only for mammograms.

Provides and manages income-based housing for eligible families with children, the disabled, those aged 62 and over or in some cases aged 55 and over.

Provides case management services, includes strength based assessments, neglect/abuse assessment on children, weekly home visits, housing stability plans, service/goal plans, budgeting and advocacy to help low income families break the cycle of homelessness.

The purpose of the MO HealthNet program is to provide medical services to persons who meet certain eligibility requirements as determined by FSD. The goals of the MO HealthNet program are to promote good health, to prevent illness and premature death, to correct or limit disability, to treat illness, and to provide rehabilitation to persons with disabilities. Eligible persons receive a "MO HealthNet Identification Card" or a letter from the local FSD office. The Family Support Division (FSD) determines client eligibility for the MO HealthNet program: the MO HealthNet Division administers the MO HealthNet program including establishment of benefit coverage, rates, claims processing, and all other aspects of daily operations.

Services include: CSTAR, women's substance abuse treatment, speakers bureau, behavioral healthcare unit, outpatient services, community support, women & children comprehensive substance treatment and rehabilitation, community and court services program. Kennett office offers inpatient treatment program.

Peer Support: Provides one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities. Staff and volunteers who have acquired positive skills for managing their own disabilities assist consumers to explore options, solve problems and develop new skills.

Summer camp programs for younger students and teens. For students entering 1st-6th grades:

• During Summer School - June 7th-July 1st, Mon-Fri - 7:30am to 5:30pm;
• Remaining Summer Camp - July 2nd-August 13, Mon-Fri - 7:30am to 5:30pm

For Teen Theater Camp:

• During Summer School - June 7th-July 2nd, Mon-Thu - After school until 7:00pm, Fri - 7:30am to 5:30m

Vocational Rehabilitation Program: Provides assistance, such as post secondary education, job skills training, adaptive equipment, computer technology and job retention services for persons who are blind or visually impaired; Placement services available.

Provides legal advocacy for victims pursuing criminal charges, explain the process and clarify the options available to the survivors and their families. Serving as a liaison with the police and state's attorney's office, an advocate lends support to the survivor, assists in reporting the crime to law enforcement, helps prepare the survivor for court, and attends the court dates with the survivor.

Recreation Voucher: The recreation voucher provides funding assistance to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, who enroll in specialized or community recreational programs. These may include summer day camps, overnight camps, classes, sports, fitness, dance and art classes, along with many other leisure activities.

Offers a wide variety of medical equipment and supplies. Supplies and equipment include but are not limited to: Cpap and Bipap machines, oxygen, nebulizers, hospital beds, scooters, wheelchairs, walkers, fracture boots, cast shoes, bath seats and benches, etc. Supplies are available for rental or sale.

The Leu Civic Center provides a wide variety of daytime homeschool classes that change every 5 weeks. These include classes such as PE, cooking, health, crochet/sewing, Sciences etc. We also offer multiple low-cost sporting opportunities in the evening including gymnastics, Zumba, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, chess, basketball, and volleyball. We have an art studio that will offer a variety of day and night time opportunities.

Provides basic health care including physical examinations, immunizations, family planning, women's health services and more.

Provides one-on-one personal financial counseling; works out repayment arrangements with creditors; helps clients get relief from collector phone calls, over-limit fees, and late fees with credit card companies and other unsecured debt; assists with budgeting, debt management plans and credit education; provides pre-filing bankruptcy counseling.
