Medical Services: Provides thyroid evaluations.

The purpose of the MO HealthNet program is to provide medical services to persons who meet certain eligibility requirements as determined by FSD. The goals of the MO HealthNet program are to promote good health, to prevent illness and premature death, to correct or limit disability, to treat illness, and to provide rehabilitation to persons with disabilities. Eligible persons receive a "MO HealthNet Identification Card" or a letter from the local FSD office. The Family Support Division (FSD) determines client eligibility for the MO HealthNet program: the MO HealthNet Division administers the MO HealthNet program including establishment of benefit coverage, rates, claims processing, and all other aspects of daily operations.

Giant Steps' school provides a coordinated program of therapy and academic instruction. Each student's program is structured according to their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and is designed to build skills in daily living, academics, communication, social interaction and community access. Older students participant in pre-vocational studies and may have the opportunity to earn high school credits. Small-Group Instruction includes social skills training, adaptive physical education, art and pre-vocational studies. Individual sessions include academics, speech therapy, occupational therapy and music therapy.

Issues awards, settles claims for industrial injury and death, also gives information on death and disability benefits.

Providing a cooling site during extreme periods of heat.

Delivery of meals to frail, homebound elderly. Meals are generally frozen and 7 days of meals are delivered once a week. In some cases up to two meals per each day. CAPACITY Through the use of frozen meals, can provide service for seven days a week and up to two meals per day.

Lead poisoning screening provided, follow-ups are done on children with elevated levels.

Preschool services provided to the students, faculty, and staff of Missouri State University and the community.

Utility Assistance: Provides assistance to low-income individuals for electric bill assistance. Partial payments are made to avoid utility cut-offs.

Program assists households that are at risk of having their utility services disconnected or have been disconnected and do not have the resources to have them re-established.

Provides a 24-hour suicide prevention hotline.

Accepts children's clothing donations that are not in need of repair, donations are not sold as a way to earn money for the program, a donation pick-up service is available.

Provides monthly cash disability benefits under the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program.

Provides personal grooming supplies.

Blood pressure screenings are done at the health department free of charge.

This program helps detect breast & cervical cancers in their earliest stages when they are easiest to treat. Free mammograms & pap tests will be provided to women who meet income and age requirements. Other services for women are offered at this sight.

Provides a snack bag and to-go meal for youth in need.

LIHEAP:

• Beginning October 1, accepting applications for elderly, age 60 years and older and/or disabled household member or child under the age of 6 and a disconnect in 7 days of being disconnected.
• General public can apply for assistance starting November 1-May 31, or until funds are depleted whichever comes first
